Probably the last LG product Ill buy. Basically they didnt update it for windows 11 I think I bought it for windows 10 when I buy an extra like this I want it to last but LG wants you to buy new. Its ridiculous for a perfectly good DVD drive to not work just because a company wants to make more money off of me. Sort of like the LG refrigerator I bought it has a problem LG created something to fix that problem but since most people just throw the refrigerator out and buy new they just keep building new refrigerators that break this has been going on for years. LG is a horrible company. If youre DVD player is going to be useless in a year or two you might as well buy a cheaper version after all its disposable.

Shameful business practices LG - Terrible product

Deserves zero stars. Spent $30 on a DVD writer/reader. Immediately had CyberLinks Media Suite shoved in my face was forced to use this software just to watch a movie. Understandable that youd need software to run this device. The terrible part is once that 30 day trial for the software is up. You are expected to spend $100 dollars just to have a media playback application to watch a dvd. If you want to spend $30 on an overengineered paperweight this is the product for you Are you looking for an unusable product? Are you looking to spend more money just to get that product operational. This product will not let you down. To me this is a disgusting business practice and I naively assumed LG would do better. After the trial the consumer can expect to spend 4x the initial price just to use it. I will never spend another dime on any LG product.

The whole point of a DVD writer/reader is to... you guessed it write read DVDs. This product would be okay at that if the user wasnt pushed along and forced to purchase software from CyberLink just to watch a DVD. Oh great a free trial for 30 days and after that you are expected to pay $99.99 per year? for the media playback software to watch a movie. I spent $30 dollars on ultimately an overengineered paperweight. After the trial for cyberlinks media suite you would have to spend a minimum of $120.00 just to use the product the way it is intended to be used. I hope that I can contact support be proved wrong but this to me is a disgusting business practice. In which LG sold an unusable item forces the consumer to pay additional costs just to keep the item operational. I dont plan to ever spend another dime on any LG products for the remainder of my life. Just vile.

Happy that I bought the DVD/CD drive. This product is a great low-cost way to access to my extensive CD collection which has sat not listened to for years after I began using a computer without a CD drive built in. Verry easy to use. Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. Code 39 and LG support is worthless even when you use their search with model # it says product not found. I know youre sorry but why not put the fix in support unless their is no fix then I understand why you want contact in a PRIVATE msg. I should have noticed a S Korea product was made in China shows priority is profit and not customer satisfaction if customer satisfaction was priority then profits would follow.

I was able to record a video onto a DVD with this device but it will only play on my computer not a regular dvd player. It will not play commercial DVDs either. The reason I bought it was knowing that DVDs are becoming obsolete I wanted to have the means to play my favorite DVDs.

I purchased the SP80NB80 in January of 23 to create a DVD for my Fathers Funeral/Celebration of Life. I wanted to make copies of the DVD I created but the player will no longer Write/Copy to the player. It only indicates the file is waiting to be written to the disk. Complete garbage. Save your money and purchase another brand.

Never got past the users manual

I got as far as viewing the users manual on the disc that was included with the product and could not eject the disc when I was finished. I had to eject it using the emergency method which was to power down my computer and insert the end of a paper clip in the hole next to the eject button. Needless to say this is going back to Best Buy tomorrow and I will not be purchasing another one. Now I know why it was 50 off

Only had this for about a year. My PC wont even recognize it anymore. I have deleted it from my computer and tried to reinstall it and the DVD writer wont show up in my computer at all so I cannot reinstall it. LG has no help on their website.

When the internal DVD/CD player in my PC stopped working I was at a loss. No streaming service or satellite provider. But this little device works perfectly. Easy to install and use and it was very reasonably priced. Thank you.

I bought the LG Slim Portable DVD Writer model # SP80NB80 to play a CD rom and DVDs. My computer recognized it two years ago. I pulled it out today to view content on a CD and a DVD but my computer would not recognize it. Laptop is running Windows 11 Windows 11 version 22H2. Help

I have purchased this both for backing up data that I had stored and since I had an internal DVD player previously. The store that I purchased it at relayed that I can play my DVD movies on it. However in order to do that. I have to purchase DVD software from Cyberlink or use something like hard to find free software or use an actual DVD player that hooks up to a television instead. This will function more for saving photos documents and minor backups. It may work for booting but I havent tried it.

Cant play DVDs without additional purchase

I love the fact it is slim and portable for audio cds but I have to purchase something else in order to watch DVDs? Not advertised well. No mention at all of third party software that needs to be PURCHASED separately in order to play DVDs.
